While I very much question the wisdom of launching a PR campaign on the first day of an extended long weekend - I'm just shaking my head over that - it's been such a long and winding road for Vincenzo Natali's Splice that mostly I'm just glad it's found a home and that the campaign has begun at all. Yes, the film is finally coming to screens this summer and the official trailer lies below.

Still looks intriguing, but that "Dark Castle" logo has me worried. I mean House Of Wax, Gothika, Thirt3en Ghosts, House On Haunted Hill, friggin Return To House On Haunted Hill - they're not exactly known for quality. I know a lot of people seemed to enjoy Orphan, but I found it to be right alongside the quality of the previously mentioned movies. I'll hold out hope that Splice is Dark Castle stepping up their level.
I truly regret not recording Natali's comments at yesterday's WONDERCON. He started out kind of meek but actually said some great things about SPLICE. The WONDERCON panel started off with a videotaped message from Guillermo del Toro endorsing the project and wishing he could be in San Francisco to help promote it. This looks like a very strange tale that will elevate itself above its horror genre elements to comment on the very real possibility that human evolution resides squarely within human hands and that it is in the human animal to eschew Promethean heroics and no longer question the theft of fire, as much as focus on what to do with the fire. There's no guilt over past thefts in this film; only a problematic love for the future.
Is it just me, or is the tone of the trailer very different from the tone of the film? I haven't watched it, just from what I read about it. I thought the story dealt more with the consequences of playing god rather than as a straightforward horror/thriller film?

Let's us all remember that we are watching a TRAILOR, why are you so quick to say "definitely not"?
Have you watch the full movie, if so, then write a review.
