[Updated with higher quality, English subtitled version of the trailer.]
I must confess that the site of Thai villagers wielding axes while riding water buffalo into battle makes me far happier than it probably should. And if you happen to share my excitement about such things, then Thai period epic Bang Rajan 2 is the movie for you.
The original Bang Rajan is one of those films that probably came slightly before its time. An epic based on the true story of a Thai village that successfully held off a foreign invasion despite being badly outnumbered and under-equipped, it released just a hair before Ong Bak drew the eyes of the international action world to Thailand and so has never really found the audience it deserves but this second part may just fix that.
We ran an early teaser a while back but the full trailer has just arrived along with nine more amazing stills from the picture. Check it all out below.

From the stills, there looks to be a lot of yelling (or biting) in this film. Seriously though it looks like Thai films are getting enough recognition and return to allow for much better production values as of late. This could be one of those great reference discs when it comes out on blu-ray if whomever gets a hold of this puts some effort into it.
