At least two thirds of the upcoming, Korean backed Busan Project anthology film cannot come fast enough.
The wobbly third belongs to Japan's Isao Yukisada, who will hopefully use this opportunity to get away from the syrupy melodrama that has dominated his recent work and back to the intensity of early stuff like GO.
The other two?
Save The Green Planet director - and mad genius - Jang Joon-Hwan finally makes his return to the big screen after a lengthy fallow period post Green Planet that has seen him produce only a single short film for digital distribution over the past seven years. Yes, it has really been that long.
And then there's Thai crazy genius Wisit Sasanatieng, he of Tears of the Black Tiger and Citizen Dog fame, bringing Bangkok cult performance art icon Michael Shaowanasai back to the big screen. Better known as his transvestite secret agent alter ego Iron Pussy, Shaowanasai has hit the big screen once before in a feature directed by arthouse auteur Apichatpong Weerasethakul. But while Joe - it's easier to type - is undoubtedly a fantastic director his style doesn't really mesh with the Iron Pussy gonzo madness whereas Sasanatieng's hyper-colorful take on things very definitely does.
And now we get our first look at Sasanatieng's bit, with a collection of fifteen images from the film. Some of these are straight up behind the scenes stuff, some of them look quite close to being actual production stills, most fall somewhere in between. All of them are fantastic.
