RAGING PHOENIX on UK Blu-ray

by James Dennis, March 18, 2010 6:46 AM

Cine Asia continues to supply us Brits with some gems from the East, with Jija Yanin's Thai martial arts flick Raging Phoenix up next. Following from the bonkers fighting style seen in Chocolate, this looks like a hell of a lot of fun, and judging by Onderhound's review, it is.

Check out the UK trailer below.

Raging Phoenix is out from 12th April on UK DVD and Blu-ray.

DVD Details

Special Features include: B-Roll Action Scene footage; interview gallery; trailer gallery; Dolby Digital Thai 5.1 (DVD); DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 Thai (Blu-ray); optional English subtitles.

The only issue I have with her movies is the fact that her hits don't seen "hard". It always looks like she's etiher afraid to connect or holding back. The fight choreography is always unique and amazing, it's just that they lack "impact". I still enjoy watching her though. Anticipating a Jaa and Jija team-up. My head will explode from badassery overload.

This movie actually comes off as rather pale in comparison to Chocolate - the choreography, story, acting and *especially* the photography is a lot worse/suffering from a vastly lower budget (or makes it seem that way).

This does not mean that it is completely without merit - the ending "boss fight", for example, is pretty awesome with some innovative environments and setup, but you´re better off if you lower your expectations to distinctly sub-Chocolate levels.

Just saying!

^ Agreed.

The final fight on the scaffoldings in Chocolate made a better set piece than whats given in Raging Phoenix. Still, the final fight in the latter kind of addressed the "lack of impact" in her hits, so i commend it. However, the movie as a WHOLE was pretty terrible. I'd probably have more fun if i got as drunk as the characters onscreen, but that says nothing of the films quality. I want to see her in a good straight fighting movie, not another kitschy "brand new, never before seen style of fighting" movie. Jija, please. There is so much raw talent yet to be seen!

I hadn't already seen this crap and bought it based on that trailer, I'd be pissed.

I agree that Chocolate is much better movie. This one looks like colorful commercial with Converse-wearing breakdancers posing on the beach. And they all do terrible job acting drunk.
