Apparently when Toho announced that they were retiring Godzilla and sent him off into the sunset in the mass-monster madness that was Ryuhei Kitamura's take on the classic franchise, what they REALLY meant was that they weren't going to make any more Godzilla films themselves but that if Hollywood wanted to back a big truck full of money into their parking lot, they'd be happy to listen to whatever Hollywood had to say.

They better let Toho have a say in this and not get the attitude that America can make the best Godzilla. I say they need to work together to make the best movie possible. It can be done. We need a monster battle. Respect the source material.

I for one welcome this US version. The last few Japanese G films have been quite poor, Shusuke Kaneko's GMK being the last good one.
And I nominate Steve Wang to design the new Godzilla, dude knows how to make proper monsters and loves all things Japanese.

i want a real Godzilla vs the army battle not army leaves fish and fires missiles crap. i want godzilla to fight jetplanes and tanks and in the process destroy a couple of cities :-)
