Nishimura! Iguchi! Sakaguchi! It's The First Teaser For MUTANT GIRLS SQUAD!

by Todd Brown, March 10, 2010 6:23 AM

MutantGirls.jpgThree of Japan's reining kings of splatter in one place? It sounds too good to be true but true it is nevertheless!  Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police), Noboru Iguchi (Machine Girl) and Tak Sakaguchi (Be A Man, Samurai School) have joined forces to co-direct upcoming splatter picture Mutant Girls Squad, exquisite corpse style. That is to say that while the film is an anthology project - with each independantly directing one third of the film - it is also a single, continuous narrative. One starts telling the story, the next takes the mid section and the next wraps it up. I'm not sure what order they're going in here but does it really matter when the title promises so much?

And, surprisingly, the first teaser has arrived already and it's thirty seconds of gold. We've got it for your first look in the video player below.

Looks interesting. Out of all three, I feel Iguchi is the most consistent director, with Noshimura having shown he can put together some fun set-pieces, but not an entire compelling film. Sakaguchi just isn't very good in my opinion - Be a Man and Samurai Zombie didn't do anything for me.

This looks insane. If memory serves me correct, one of the stars, Yumi Sugimoto, was best known as the Silver Ranger on the 2008 Super Sentai series Engine Sentai Go-Onger (the U.S. series version, Power Rangers RPM was the final Power Rangers series). Sounds like Triangle in terms of the directors collaborating but this looks crazy!!!
