Lee Jun-Ik's upcoming martial arts drama Like The Moon Escaping From The Clouds won instant attention worldwide with the release of that poster to the left. It's not like the director of The King And The Clown - an enormous critical and financial hit - needs a lot of help attracting notice for his work but when global martial arts fans see a blind man drawing a blade hidden in his cane with a backhanded grip ... well, we start thinking Zatoichi immediately.
First of all, no. This is not a Korean spin on Zatoichi, at least not directly. I had the chance to ask the sales agents for the film about that just a couple weeks ago and they tell me it is based on a Korean manhwa, and not the Japanese pop culture legend, but it's hard to imagine there isn't some influence in there.
Of course, the only way to really judge that is to look for yourself, and now you can with the arrival of the first teaser. Have a taste below.

The trailer did not get me excited for the film, but I'm a sucker for swordplay movies so I'm sure I'll end up watching and buying it. Hopefully they'll have some better footage to show off soon. That poster is too good.
Too fast cut, you don't see a thing (not a joke). Waiting for a proper trailer.
