Wise decision! I think Ip Man 3 would end up inferior to the previous ones anyway if he would continue with the role. We don't need another Once Upon A Time In China trilogy.

It might be a good idea on Donnie's part but we are gonna end up with all these different actors (Tony Leung and this new guy, so far...), all being known for being Ip Man. That's going to be weird.

i'm gutted, Donnie's decided to call it a day on the subject matter as the whole basis (initially) they decided to start these films off........aka Bruce Lee he's only just apeared as alittle boy and its cold for it to be finshed off now, like a big anti climax!

We do understand this mr Yen however Ipman 2 did not include the much anticipated story of Bruce Lee and the connection.
Imam was his sifu and many want to be educated and entertained by this part of the legacy.
At the end of the Ipman2 The Actor playing Bruce lee was a kid and did a good job of capturing the attitude of him, it leaves the audiance wanting the movie to continue.

As I watched Ipman2 I consistantly was thinking this or that actor was the charactor of Bruce only to find out bruce had not showed up yet!

Well you did such a good job playing Impan that no one else can top it.
Just as lawrence Fishburne will allways be "Morpheus and Keanu Reeves will allways be "Neo" You due to this fim, will allways be Ipman ( Yes we are aware that its a movie based on a true story and such but the point being is you did a great job I pray that you have a change of heart or at least have some involvement in the ipman 3 movie versions.

On a side note... I read that you had to train for a short time in WC

Just watching the film inspires me to seek a willing sifu to train me in WC.
I think the closest person we have to Bruce Lee is Dan Inasanto.
I respect him highly!

We've have seen Ip Man and marveled at the story and the action. I wuld love to see a BRUCE LEE MOVIE made by the same producers.. BRUCE LEE BRUCE LEE.. I remember there was one like back in 95' but with this kinda of Tech it would be so much better. BRUCE.. C'mon PLZZZZZZZZZZ

Pls Donnie, just play Ip Man 3, i begun wing chun after the films you made, its so great.
U dont need to put the whole story on Ip man 3 just cut the rest into the important pieces andfinish the films,
Its not like i know what u need to learn or to manage for it.
But this Story got something epic, and epic and triologys sticks, like in Star Wars. Its not just the film itself.
Its how especially you play the role, how naturally it seems.
I dont know if its hard for you but pls finish this last film,
for your fans and for chinese Kung Fu.

I hereby plead with Donnie Yen to play Ipman 3. You portray this character so befittingly .... no one else can do it but you. After Bruce Lee, and especially after his death, I was so devastated, I never watched another kung fu movie so passionately as I did Ipman. You made it happen all over again, altho in a much different style. Nevermind the others who are jumping on this "Ipman Bandwagon"...... they can't even come near. Only you, Donnie Yen, can be Ipman. I so love you as Ipman, please don't let us down. We need Ipman 3, please, please, please.
