Out promoting their new horror movie WOMB GHOSTS, writer/producer/director Dennis Law (FATAL CONTACT, BAD BLOOD) and star Chrissie Chow confirmed that they would be making a second film together later this year. Here's what Law had to say:
"It's about kung-fu vampire killers. I want to combine the basic elements of BAD BLOOD and WOMB GHOSTS - ghosts and kung fu together in a kind of Chinese underworld movie, set in the present day. The heroes are a team of vampire police - police operating in the vampire world. Chrissie will be one of them, together with Jiang Lu Xia (from BAD BLOOD). I want to combine martial arts actors from the mainland with Chrissie and some pretty young models from Hong Kong to make an exciting vampire kung fu movie for young people. I've also got Chin Siu Ho, from Mr. VAMPIRE. He's in his late 40s, now but can still fight! Also Yuen Wah will star as the big evil vampire. In the supporting cast I'll also have Maggie Siu and Pinky Cheung. We've got the script and production will start in early June, so probably we'll be releasing it early next year."
While she was there, I also tried to get some more info from Chrissie about her upcoming beach volleyball action movie, BEACH SPIKE for Bey Logan's new production company B & E. However, her management representative was quick to jump in, saying only:
"It's still in the very early stages. Everything is still under discussion but let's say maybe this year something will happen, it will be a Chinese movie, but we'll have an update soon."
I do like Dennis Law and his films...they've not been perfect but they're entertaining and he is delivering a real sense of classic 80's HK cinema which has been missing for a long time
Also the fact he doesnt let everything get compromised to appease China is good too
And come on Chrissie Chau kicking vampire but while looking coy, as Jiang Liu-xia lets rip with some incredible Wushu skills..I'm there already
And the bonus of Yuen Wah as an eveil vampire...and Chin Siu-ho...
