For those in my generation who grew up on 80's and 90's action flicks, it's really welcoming to see Sylvester Stallone going back to this old school of unapologetic violence and mayhem that we all come to know and love in his upcoming ensemble action film The Expendables. To hold us over while we eagerly await its arrival, Lionsgate has released a new poster. Despite the absence of the cast, I totally dig the simplicity and the killer artwork.
THE EXPENDABLES is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Written, directed by and starring Sylvester Stallone, THE EXPENDABLES brings together a dynamic cast including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews and Mickey Rourke! In theaters on August 13th. You'll find a large version of the poster in our gallery below.

Yep, that arsenal should be able to beat the two swords you normally see in a Jolly Roger...
That's probably one of the best one-sheets this year. Damn!
I just wish Sly had got someone else in to direct, like McTiernan or even Renny Harlin. Get an 80s/90s action director in to do it justice and complete the retro vibe. Last time I looked Sly's directing was a little uneven...
