If you're a Philip Ridley fan - and I know there's more than a couple round here - you may be a little excited to hear that Heartless is receiving a multi-platform release in the UK on 24th May, following its debut at last year's Frightfest. A limited theatrical run on 21st May will precede distribution on DVD, blu-ray, video on demand, rental and electronic sell through. A number of more niche genre titles (Mum & Dad for one) have followed this pattern in the past couple of years, with distibutors such as Revolver supporting a smaller cinema run with a simultaneous home ents release which concentrates their efforts (and marketing budgets) on one period. Lionsgate have followed the trend with Heartless thanks to some Lottery funding from the UK Film Council's Digital Innovation in Distribution strand.
