In 2003 Danish auteur Lars Von Trier challenged Jorgen Leth to remake his own film The Perfect Human five times under five different sets of restrictions imposed by Von Trier. Though no official statement has been issued by Von Trier yet, the word is out that he has issued a similar challenge to Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro with the remake target this time being the classic Taxi Driver. How this is going to be structured and when it will actually happen - with both directors currently busy on other projects - is not yet clear but it definitely looks as though it will happen at some point.

I think this is bullshit. The story originated in the danish film magazine EKKO. Peter Aalbæk, co-founder of Zentropa, then went on to comment in a danish newspaper, saying: "It's a lot of crap."

Posting the efforts of wannabes? Well, if staying current on a huge (and I mean HUGE) portion of indy cinema here at Twitch (with a capital "T" thank you very much) which is being made many times by first-time talent, is merely "posting the efforts of wannabes" then I think the "hit" ratio is pretty damned good as far as the "wannabes" that have been covered here at Twitch. Also, by your statement, and the whole "rubbing two nickels together" thing, we should be covering only news on films with nice budgets and everything in place. Not very cutting edge, sorry. And again with the "nickels" thing, you open by saying "Who is going to fund this shit?", well if the words Scorses/DeNiro/ and, yes, Von Trier don't clue you in then I won't even try. It's a rumor, but one that could have happened.
