Not content to be left out of the Park Chan-wook remake party Warner Bros. has shown up at the door and acquired the rights to remake the first of the Vengeance Trilogy films, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. Warner Bros. has acquired remake rights to the Chan-Wook Park-directed Korean film "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" and set Brian Tucker ("Broken City") to write the script.
To recap Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is the story of Ryu, a deaf man, and his sister, who requires a kidney transplant. Ryu's boss, Park, has just laid him off, and in order to afford the transplant, Ryu and his girlfriend develop a plan to kidnap Park's daughter. Things go horribly wrong, and the situation spirals rapidly into a cycle of violence and revenge.
The original starred some great Korean talent: Sin Ha-gyoon, Bae Doona and Song Kang-ho. And of course it was written and directed by Park Chan-wook who by this time, following up JSA, was on everyone's radar in the Korean film industry and followed it up with Oldboy, also due for a remake, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.

Um, I don't want to get on anyone's back, but that might not be the best picture for people who haven't seen the movie yet...like me.
f...............................................k! hollywood
After Oldboy fail, they ABSOLUTELY want to remake a vengeance movie. I don't consider this one has a great cult movie like Oldboy, but I hope the remake will be cancelled too.
Hopefully the third time is not the charm and this joins OLDBOY and JSA on the pile of ill conceived Park Chan-Wook remakes that nobody whatsoever was clamoring for.
Didn't Charlize Theron want to do a remake of Lady Vengeance? Or did I dream that? (More like a nightmare.)
a recreation of a masterpiece is only going to leave a bad impression to those who haven't seen the original. oldboy/jsa/a bitter sweet life these flicks will boom if remade.
