Ah, Dwight Yoakam. As country music has gotten younger and prettier, he's made more films. Their loss, our gain because the man has proven again and again to be a pretty spectacular character actor, not even remotely afraid of going to some very dark places.  Enter his character - The Reverend - in upcoming cult western The Last Rites of Ransom Pride. He doesn't like people very much. Crows, either.  See for yourself below.

Several of his films have shown Mr. Yoakam's talents as a character actor. I will probably see “Last Rites of Ransom Pride” because it doesn't seem like it is the standard Hollywood offering and the cinematography has a dark gothic look which I find fascinating. The Reverend looks like a good part for Yoakam. I hope he continues with the whole acting thing.

As good as he as a character actor - he totally shines as a live performer! He may not be as young or pretty as the current crop of performers – but he is smokin’ on the stage. I just saw him in Mesquite, Texas and it was one of the best concerts. Not even the security detail or Marshall, who did manage to maintain safety, could keep the enthusiastic crowd away from the stage. He has an engaging and charismatic personality and is adept at drawing the audience in whenever he performs. I am looking forward to his next CD release and I hope that he is still performing decades from now.

I will go wherever and watch whatever to see Dwight.. I adore him.. He has the ability to take you seamlessly to any situation, any time period, any genre, and MAKE YOU BELIEVE...

Dwight Yoakam is one of the most underrated actors and musicians around today. No matter what type of music you prefer you should make it a point to see Dwight in Concert, you'll be happy you did. I can't wait for this new move to release ! "The reverend tries not to hate;" gotta love it ! ( Can't wait to rock my reverend T-shirt 20.93 shipped !)
