Full marks to Funimation and their upcoming series of Shaw Brothers rereleases. Not only have they picked a solid collection of off-the-beaten-track gems - the Bastard Swordsman films are great - but they've cooked up one fantastic ad campaign for the collection. Being respectful to the source material while also having a sense of humor about things goes a long way in my book. Check the trailer below to see what I mean ...

Just seeing the Shaw Brothers logo gets me excited! This promo is pretty slick.
That was cliched and sort of silly (How best to promote our remastered Shaw Brothers titles? Let's make them look old and scratchy!) but ultimately engaging and miles better than any piece of promotional material ever to emerge from the rancid bowels of Dragon Dynasty. I trust Funimation more than the Weinstein Company but I'll still be waiting on a few knowledgeable reviews before touching any US release of any Asian film.
Fun promo. The Shaw Brothers titles they are releasing were the ones originally licensed by BCI. Now that BCI is gone, I guess the parent company (Navarre) handed these to FUNi. Hopefully the discs will be as nice as the two titles that BCI released. I want more blu-rays!
Did Funimation get BCI's Miramax titles as well?
Bastard Swordsman flicks? Looking foward to this, also, fuck Dragon Dynasty.
