Like the headline says, Canada's Evokative Films have picked up rights to Belgium's Oscar submission for this year, dark comedy-drama The Misfortunates. Though there are no specific details as far as when they'll be rolling it out, you can expect this to follow the normal Evokative release pattern of a limited theatrical run in Canada's big cities followed by a French and English bilingual DVD release. This one comes hard on the heels of Evokative's acquisition of Ole Bornedal's Deliver Us From Evil - theatrical run on that one coming very soon - so, clearly, they intend to push into this sort of edgy European fare moving forward.
