Want Some 十月围城 (Bodyguards and Assassins)? - Updated with Subs

by X, November 4, 2009 9:27 AM

[Pushing this back up as a subbed version of the same eight minute promo popped up on Youtube]

....aaand, we've got some. Eight minutes, to be precise.

Todd and the rest of the crew covered Teddy Chen's latest period blockbuster 十月围城 (Bodyguards and Assassins) extensively over the last few months, and preparing for its December 18 release in Mainland China, a lengthy promo of the film was released today to the Chinese press. The film tells the story of a group of bodyguards protecting Kuomintang founder Sun Yat-sen in the Hong Kong of 1905, and it's not just any Hong Kong. We're talking about a full scale replica here.

Produced by Peter Chan, the film boasts an humongous cast including action guru Donnie Yen, Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Leon Lai, Nicholas Tse, veterans like Wang Xueqi and Eric Tsang, along with Mainland superstars like Fan Bingbing and Hu Jun, who plays the assassin.

Teddy Chen has stated that there'll be over 60 minutes of non-stop action which will take up most of the second half of the movie. The running time is reported to be around 135 minutes.

Would this be considered a mainland period film? It's too bad no one's continuing the tradition of Lau Kar Leung and Jackie Chan style period films. This makes me think of Tsui Hark and Jet Li. Seems like the only other style of period films are those war movies. There are so many of those I can't keep up or tell the difference.

The music on the first promo was much better if you ask me.

Sorry about being off topic, but the company name Polybona really sounds like it could be referring to "multiple erections"
