Song Yoon-Ah as a femme fatale? Now that's an interesting choice.
Song will play Ji-Yeon, who moves abroad after her husband, detective Sung-Ryeol (Cha Seung-Won), manages to get their son killed in a car accident which is drenched in suspicious clues (like the affair with his colleague's wife he never mentioned to her). But when she returns home out of the blue, and clues to a freshly served murder start pointing at her, Sung-Ryeol begins a frantic struggle to keep his wife away from trouble. The little problem, I guess, is that she's playing coy. There's probably a secret looming behind the corner...
시크릿 (Secret) is the "debut" (he directed his first film in 1993, but it barely registered a blip on the radar) of Yoon Jae-Gu, who wrote the original story for Won Shin-Yeon's 2007 thriller 세븐 데이즈 (Seven Days). And, despite the rather conventional thriller setup, it boasts quite the excellent cast: other than Song and Cha, who worked together in Kim Sang-Jin's comedy 광복절 특사 (Jail Breakers), Ryu Seung-Ryong plays the badass villain who throws off Sung-Ryeol's plans, and the film also stars capable character actors like Jung In-Gi, Park Won-Sang, Park Hyo-Ju and Kim In-Kwon. Secret releases on December 3.
