Given the recent history of Lionsgate when it comes to releasing - or more accurately, not releasing - films greenlit before the current regime came to power, I have spent the past few months waiting for the other show to drop on the Spierig Brothers' vampire-action film Daybreakers and word to come that it, too, was being buried on the Lionsgate scrap heap. After all, this is the last of the old-guard films left to come out and none of the others have been handled with any sort of respect or care, so why should this be any different.
Well, guess what? After a very successful festival run that shoe aint dropping. The wide release comes in early January and the full theatrical trailer has just arrived. I'm not personally as big on this one as a lot of others are but it's still one of the best mainstream horror pictures in a good while and will be a nice vampiric antidote to all the Twilight madness. Check the trailer below.

I am really looking forward to this film. We had a sit down interview with the Spierig Brothers (coolshite.net) where they told us that you feel like you have seen then film from the trailer, but in reality you haven't seen a thing. Not sure if this is them upselling but either way the trailer looks fantastic.
Interesting that you said "just arrived," as this trailer is months old.
I had the pleasure of seeing this at TIFF this past fall and it was plenty of fun. There were a few moments that were a little silly (I'll let others decide what they think is silly and not give away details) but on the whole, I really enjoyed it.
The brothers were around for a Q&A and mentioned that they still do their fair share of the work and a lot of CG is done by their own hand. To paraphrase - they wanted to bring us back to the horror of vampires who aren't pretty, sparkly, romantic sops.
Feels like I've been waiting forever to watch this film...
