The work of rebel Japanese filmmaker Koji Wakamatsu is blasting out across the world in all conceivable formats in November 2009. The French DVD label Blaq Out label has released a 4 DVD box of Wakamatsu films, including Secrets Behind the Wall, The Embryo Hunts in Secret, Violated Angels and Go Go Second Time Virgin. The discs are all in Japanese and feature French subtitles. While the lack of English subtitles is a bit of a drag, Blaq Out has also made English-subtitled versions available for streaming on their website at reasonable price.
Finally, Cinefamily Theater in Los Angeles, California is running retrospective screenings of Koji Wakamatsu films every Saturday in November. Titles being screened include United Red Army, Ecstacy of the Angels, Shinjuk Madness, Running In Madness, Dying In Love, Go Go Second Time Virgin, and Violent Virgin. Please note that the screening of United Red Army, which is truly amazing, is on Wednesday, November 4th.
