What happened Jackie? Your ass used to be beautiful.

It's sad to watch a career you've been following for almost two decades now go down the drain in such a way that Jackie Chan's has. His latest Hollywood venture The Spy Next Door pits him up against Magnus Scheving of LazyTown fame to protect the kids he's babysitting while on the job as a spy.
A trailer for the film has been released and while I'm glad it doesn't feature "Kung Fu Fighting" on the soundtrack that's about the only good thing I can say about it. But then this is designed to be a children's film so I suppose us old school Jackie fans can't really gripe too much. Jackie's got to eat.
Find it below.

I'm speechless.....wtf?

user-pic

Why... Why is it that it seems like Jackie is doing a really bad Schwarzenegger impression? Or is that just me?

user-pic

I'm speechless.... Then again, Billy Ray Cyrus and Jackie Chan in the same movie does spark a little interest..

At this point in his career i seriously doubt that Jackie needs to take projects so he can afford "food money" or something of the like. Jackie should move behind the camera already, or choose way carefully what kind of roles he does. Then again, this crap makes quick easy money. Just don't start complaining about how bad they are Jackie, you know it before signing to appear on them.

Just wow. Chev, totally agree with you. Why Jackie hasn't taken his years of experience and gotten back behind the camera and mentored a new generation of action stars will be an eternal question. At least there is some kind of action content to it.. Kindergarten Cop it ain't though. That gem is untouchable.

oh c'mon people - no need to give him such a hard time...he's paid his dues more than ten times over and has a massive back-catalogue of amazing work that is timeless...so what if he wants to make a kiddy comedy?? His last film was 'Shinjuku Incident' for crying out loud...!! Did no one see that?? I'm sure a cushy number in Hollyweird beats hardcore filmmaking in Hong Kong! & will pay better too...! And don't forget, Sammo did a fucking TV series in America!! These guys were SOLD by their parents for Christs sake...let them take it easy in their old age.

Stop moaning and put your energies into supporting Wu-Jing instead

Not only what agent666 said but the man has directed many films.

There is footage from the Tuxedo in the trailer. Jackie can keep making Hollywood films and I won't see them in the theater. But I will still buy his Hong Kong/ China productions.

I have no problem with Jackie doing this stuff, i don't moan, i just find a bit silly how Jackie complaints about hollywood movies being bad, then goes and does more of them. Not to mention, once more, that the "he needs money" argument sounds a bit out of place, unless he's on some serious money debt.

There's also another fact here: sometimes it is wise to know when to move out to other things. Sammo did Martial Law, yes, but he didn't do 3 movies with a black guy talking in ebonics, and with a script full of dumb racist jokes. Sammo has mostly done stuff in Hong Kong, and even there he would either do a support role or direct an action sequence behind camera. Jackie became more popular worldwide, but he should know when to step in front of the camera and when not to. He's a film legend already, he can be more picky about roles, both in Hong Kong and Hollywood.

Yes Chevalier, you're right.
When you're done, it's important how you say Good Bye at the end to keep the the good impression.

one thing, I love Jackie and his honk kong movies.
but these kind of movies just suck, and like many of my friends say: he's become a clown. and i loved that Jackie never presented himself as the though action hero, he was always the clumsy, funny guy but he was always setting a new high in stunts/fighting. Now he's just the clumsy, funny(?) part... and the fighting has become stale...
I agree Jackie should be behind a camera or doing a new police story movie at least in those he's great :-)

Poor Jackie. Such a great man. I hate how Hollywood is able to take these great people to the lowest level of popular culture with a bunch of clichés and repetitive classic jokes. I'm agree with those who say that he should go behind the camera (in HK).

I think that whatever can be said about Jackie Chan's descent into madness in his years of dotage has already been said a hundred times over. No need for me to repeat them. I'm well aware that he can do whatever films he wishes to, but it really is disappointing to see how far he has fallen. From screen legend to spokesperson for the Communist Party of the PRC. Ironic when you realis his father was forced to change his name and flee his homeland because of the communists.

user-pic

I think Jackie tries to compete with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who also has a terribly-looking kiddy movie called "The Tooth Fairy".. And those two movies are coming out one week apart in January... Which one will be the most successful at the Box-office??
