Razor in the Apple Department: Warner releases Trick r' Treat on DVD

DVD release instead of theatrical? It stinks. No substantial extras on the DVD? Stinks. Optional for Halloween viewing? Absolutely not. Beg, borrow, rent, steal this movie and watch it with a bunch of friends. Trick r' Treat really is the best horror anthology in a long, long time. It's funny, scary, well written and features great characters brought to life by the likes of Brian Cox, Anna Paquin and Dylan Baker. Plus it has a righteously cool character in the person of Sam, the guardian trick r' treater of all things Halloween. Not only do all the stories tie together but they are great on their own something that's pretty rare with anthologies period.

A really terrific film. Glad you guys are championing it.

I too really enjoyed the film...it is a love letter to a certain kind of horror fan, a horror fan that grew up watching and loving stuff like Creepshow 1 & 2, Tales From the Darkside/Crypt, and E.C. Comics. It will be in my yearly Halloween rotation with Carpenter's Halloween, A Nightmare Before Christmas, and It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

I am very underwhelmed by the extras though, as you mentioned. Someone is smart enough to know that horror fans will double dip for this one. I really loved the short film, and then I went to watch the full length feature with commentary, I realized it was commentary for the short!!! Still, it was worth the wait...and it should have had a theatrical release. But Saw 6 should be out soon though, right?!

boring, but very well shot/acted. needed a better script.

Test comment.
