Speculation began back in September what one of Korea's great directors would take on next. At the beginning of the month there was word that he may have chosen to do a remake of Costa-Gavras's 2005 film Le Couperet [The Ax].

Costa-Gavras confirmed the news at the Pusan Film Festival in South Korea, which runs until Friday. "I was glad to hear that Park, who has made political genre films, wants to remake my film. I met him and we talked a lot here in Pusan. I didn't want to give any opinions of mine but I will support him as much as I can in France," said Costa-Gavras.

X wrote in his article in September, The premise couldn't be more topical: a middle aged, middle class salaryman loses his job after a downsizing, and after spending the following two years downsizing his lifestyle, he decides to overcome competition in his own personal way: chopping down anyone who gets in the way of his path back into fiscal solvency.

Incredible. This man can do no wrong in my eyes.

As much as I hated Cyborg, I can't wait for Thirst (I'm a sucker for vampire movies, except those named Twilight). By the way, Le couperet was good but not great, José Garcia was simply awesome in this. Park should: 1) make it 100% Korean and 2) find a GREAT actor.

That could actually be, I have to admit, an interesting remake!
