What was once titled Light-transcending Pandora's Box is now called Once Upon a Chinese Classic and from the outside looks like the Chinese take on a Zucker comedy film and a send up of John Woo's Red Cliff films.

Jeffrey Lau explains that "transcend" in the title Light-transcending Pandora's Box refers to transcending time, as in time-travelling. It features an ensemble cast where various goofy characters from different movies somehow ended up in Three Kingdoms and are trying to lay their hands on the Pandora's Box in order to get back to their own times, and in one way or another, turning the era topsy-turvy, messing up Liu Bei, Cao Cao and Zhou Yu's lives and getting on their nerves.

If anything he has pulled together one heck of a cast as he has called upon countless characters from his other films to make cameo appearances in the film. There are around 60 cameo roles in Light-Transcending Pandora's Box and the cast includes Ronald Cheng, Sun Li, Athena Chu, Gigi Leung, Ada Choi, Yuen Wah, Alex Fong Lik Sun, Fan Siu Wong, Eric Tsang, Guo Tao, Huang Bo, Betty Huang Yi, Charlene Choi, Ken Wong, Sandra Ng, Lee Kin Yan, Marco Ngai, Wang Xue Bing, etc...

Filming wrapped up at the end of summer and an outtakes reel was released, something to convey the spirit and comedic tone of the film. You can find that after the jump.
