Hyun Bin and Tang Wei to Lead Kim Tae-Yong's 60s Remake?

It was about a year ago when we first reported about the upcoming remake of Lee Man-Hee's 1960s classic 만추 (Full Autumn). At the time, 色,戒 (Lust, Caution)'s Tang Wei and Lee Joon-Gi were rumored to be the leads, but even though Lee is shooting a black comedy on TV - the promising 히어로 (Hero) - which essentially forced him out of contention, Tang might indeed land the leading role (she is only one of the few Chinese actresses under consideration, but there's a strong possibility she will sign), with Hyun Bin playing her co-star in the Korea-US co-production.

This is not the first time Full Autumn is remade, as Saito Koichi, Kim Ki-Young and Kim Su-Yong already filmed their own version. But it seems like the tradition of good directors remaking this film will continue, as the fourth name to be added to this list will be 가족의 탄생 (Family Ties)'s Kim Tae-Yong. Shooting for the film will start early next month in Seattle, and while cast and funding will be Korean, the crew will be mostly local. The film tells the story of a woman out on special parole falling for a man on the run for counterfeiting, and their intense and short lived romance. Should Tang accept the role, this would mark her return to the big screen after her ban in the Mainland, along with Ivy Ho's 月滿軒尼詩 (Crossing Hennessy) with Jacky Cheung. Full Autumn will release next year, but probably do some festival rounds before hitting theaters.

Any news which revolves around Tang Wei and her getting roles and doing well with her acting career is the kind of news I like to hear. She was such an unpolished gem with Lust, Caution and then the censors had to do something so pathetic. Glad to see she's doing well.
