I'm not going to do a review but only to give a little heads up to a film that I'm sure many people, including me, dismissed right of the bat as just another evil kid movie. Orphan surprised me quite a bit by being really well made horror movie and while most of the elements and clichés from past evil kid films are present in this one they are handled well and the acting and well rounded characters are what pushes this one towards the front of the line. Especially actress Isabelle Fuhrman as the evil and manipulative Esther who delivers an amazing performance especially considering what the role required her to do and that she was 10 years old when she did it. That girl got mad skills.
Orphan wasn't seen by many people and its a damn shame because this really is a strong film and often very disturbing that deserves more love. It's released on DVD and Blu Ray today and I highly recommend that fans of good horror films check it out.

This movie blew me away.
I was lucky enough to see it at Comicon.
Your right, it is not your normal evil child movie. The twist will blow you away..
plus Isabelle Fuhrman was awesome, maybe even surpassing the original Child actress of BAD SEED, Patty McCormack..
First of all, anything with Vera Farmiga is good. This looks good, most of the acting is good, twist is decent, but it stretched the limits of credulity (not the twist, but the patronizing and the silence) too much for me. Sarsgaard's character was either poorly written or performed, too. I know it's just a movie but it became too unbelievable so I walked away unsatisfied.
Very underrated movie indeed. Not the best in its genre, but better than expected.
I skipped out on it because almost everybody I heard from said it sucked and I had the twist spoiled for me. I know I shouldn't take it out on the movie, but usually I'll angrily skip a movie if someone spoils it for me. I guess I'll have to see this one, though.
