Trailer Arrives For Aussie Chiller LAKE MUNGO

Australian chiller Lake Mungo is a tough one to categorize.  A ghost story that makes very little attempt to scare, Mungo's aims lie elsewhere.  Instead of playing the ghosts for scares, the creators here embrace a moc-doc format, the film following a family following the death of their teenage daughter - the whole lot of them trying to find ways of coping with the loss when it begins to appear as though she's not entirely gone.  Rather than being driven by scares it ends up being a very atmospheric film about loss and grief and something entirely unique.

Already snapped up by Hollywood producers intent on remaking it - and with early signs being that they're going to drop the doc format and play it as a straight narrative with the focus more firmly on scares which begs the question of why do it at all - the film is finally gearing up for its Australian theatrical release after a successful fest run.  And releases mean trailers.  You'll find it below.

Of the three announced After Dark Horrorfest IV titles this looks to be the best.
Though what you mention about Lake Mungo "rather than being driven by scares... ends up being a very atmospheric film about loss and grief..." means it'll disappoint those soley going into this for jump scares.
I'll take this any day.
Australia has really been on point this year. Now if we could only get to see these titles: horseman, last ride, lucky country, etc.

This looks really interesting, looking forward to this. Probably will have to wait for a dvd...since the after dark movies usually dont hit many theaters.

I've just preordered a copy for myself, along with the Cannes pleasing 'Samson & Delilah' which comes out just beforehand, on 25th November.
