Though it will live exclusively over at Showcase for a couple days before arriving here, my review for Sean Byrne's The Loved Ones in now online. Thoughts? Though it's a touch prone to melodrama and features a couple little hiccups in execution, this one is absolutely the real deal and announces Byrne as a serious new talent on the world horror scene. Amazing cinematography and art design, several squirm-in-your-seats moments, a novel premise and one of the most memorable villain couples ever put on screen. Yup. It;s a good one.

I completely agree with your review Todd. My expectations were pretty low after the opening act, but once the couple of villains was introduced the film picked up considerably. It was a little wobbly at times, but the overall final feeling was one of resounding sucess for the first time filmmaker.
Kick ass soundtrack to boot that fit the film to a tee. I've had "Am I not pretty enough" stuck in my head all day.
Its a good review Todd.
It is a greatest victory to the director that he created the films where nature, villain and music combines to form a good historic film.
Totally I wont forget the pleasing moments when i saw the film...
I used to lament the lack of good genre cinema from my home country but I'm happy to say those days are no more!
