Darren Aronofsky making Heist flick?

by Kurt Halfyard, September 21, 2009 9:37 PM

Add a heist flick to the already full plate of Darren Aronofsky (he is also working on a reboot of Robocop and a haunted ballerina story Black Swan) according to Variety (via /film) this afternoon.

Jon Wertheim's Sports Illustrated magazine article "Breaking the Bank" and Howard Sounes' nonfiction book "Heist: The Inside Story of the World's Biggest Robbery appear to be the template for the script which will be loosely based on the true story. To be shot in the UK and the story will have a decidedly British bent to it.

"The story is a very unique British heist tale with colorful London characters. I've always wanted to shoot in England and Kerry is the perfect writer to bring authenticity to this outrageous true bank job."

Really whatever project comes to fruition first, I'm in.  This director can do no wrong for me, being 4 for 4 thus far.

This is totally legit. It's a partnership between Protozoa (Aronofskys company) and XYZ Films, who are partners with us here at Twitch. The XYZ guys have been talking about this for months, just waiting for things to firm up to announce it. Aronofsky is not 100% to direct yet but that's the aim and, at minimum, he'll be producing.

Is Aronofsky going all Ritchie on us?

I thought Aronofsky was off Robocop.

what i really want to know is whatever happened with Aranofsky's "Lone Wolf & Cub" reboot... *sigh*

Right marley, If Aronofsky were to make Lone Wolf, that would be the best possible marriage of talent and topic. None of these other projects sound quite worth his time.
