Camera Japan Festival Rotterdam reveals line-up

by Ard Vijn, September 15, 2009 9:24 AM

CameraJapanFestival-2009.jpgFrom the 23rd till the 27th of September, the Camera Japan Film Festival will be held in Rotterdam. I've been avidly awaiting their final line-up, promised "early September", and it's finally online. Some quick reveals:

-Dracula Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl

-Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone

-Ghost in the Shell 2.0

-Heaven's Door

-Genius Party Beyond

-All Around Us

-Detroit Metal City

-Summer Days With Coo

...And many, many more: check www.camerajapan.nl for info.

I hope to be able to cover a few films, but most of these films only play ones and dark forces are already preventing me from being able to see several of these entries. Thankfully, after Rotterdam this festival will start to travel throughout the Netherlands so I hope to be able to catch some of these in repeat viewings...

Don't forget about Time of Eve. First full-length feature of the Studio Rikka guy (= genius!)

Such an awesome line-up, sadly it's a bit far for a quick trip to the movies :|

What are you talking about? It's only a few minutes' walk from the train station! So all you need to do is get on a train...

Seriously though, I'm REALLY looking forward to "Time of Eve". Unfortunately I can't be there on Saturday night (boohoo, no Genius Party Beyond, no Tokyo and no GitS-2.0) but I fully intend to hit the festival on Sunday, including "Time of Eve".

And remember Camera will visit both Breda and Tilburg next month, both of which are a lot closer to you. No schedules for those cities yet though...

Looks like I will be getting on a train whenever I have the time next week! Some interesting movies I might check out: One Million Yen Girl, Time of Eve, and maybe The Blue Bird and GitS 2.0.

It's pretty close to my hometown, so yay! And according to their website, they are going to visit it too, although there is no schedule yet. Might be less interesting for moviegoers, seeing as we don't have a movie theatre any more ;).

The Kappalai art exhibit and Nintendo thing might be worth checking out too.

They sure have some interesting stuff going on around town. I mean, a cosplay café? lol

They just announced their closing surprise film.
It's The Sky Crawler!!
