[Post updated with five more stills]

With his English language debut The Echo soon to hit DVD in North America, Filipino director Yam Laranas is hard at work on his latest picture - a horror picture titled Patient X. Now in production with an October release planned, this promises to be a full blooded, Filipino creature feature based around the legend of the aswang - a human-like creature that feeds upon the entrails of its victims. If all goes according to plan this will be very bloody and feature dominantly practical effects. Though there's no trailer available yet Laranas has just released a new poster and still shot, both of them featuring shots from the in-progress shoot. And if you want to know why we love Laranas' work so much, just take a look at these things. The man is one of the best DPs working today and he brings an incredible visual sense to everything he does.

When I saw "Sigaw" at the BIFFF festival in Brussels some years ago, I was really impressed.
When I saw the "American Remake" (normally I never ever watch those) earlier this year at that same BIFFF I was more than pleasantly suprised Yam Laranas managed to keep the hart and spirit of the story intact and adapt it a new setting ...
Now ... A creature feature ... sound like something completely different ... But, of course, a talented director like that, shouldn't spend his entire carrier making the same movies, right ...

i find that poster a bit disturbing and very creepy, and that definitely makes me want to see the movie :)
