No, that headline is not a typo. I'm not referring to Tim Burton's film version of Alice In Wonderland but to the actual Wonderland itself. You see, yesterday the president of Disney's theatrical division came to Toronto to host a two hour press junket showing off their upcoming titles - in brief, the Tron Legacy promo looks amazing on the big screen in 3D and the clip they played of Daft Punk's score for the film was equally fantastic and the clip they showed of Michael Keaton voicing Ken for Toy Story 3 is absolutely hilarious - and to wrap tings up they bundled all the attendees up and whisked us off to a traveling exhibit of actual props and sets and costumes from Tim Burton's upcoming film - the same exhibit that was recently at the San Diego Comic Con, making just its second (and final) North American appearance in a one-day-only Toronto stop that is being dismantled and packed up today before being shipped off to Europe.
And as you'd expect from a director as design and art direction focused as Burton is, the display was very impressive indeed. Featuring original concept art, richly detailed costumes, props and open environments visitors were free to walk through - including the Queen of Hearts' throne room and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party set - we were able to get a good, close-up look at everything. Particularly impressive to me - and surprisingly so - was the armor and weaponry, which easily rivals the materials produced by Weta Workshop for The Lord Of The Rings.
The exibit is gone now but we were allowed to take photos and I've linked a small gallery below.
