Well now. I must say it looks like there will be some competition for the new 'V' show coming out this year. The fine lads over at Quiet Earth got their hands on an upfront trailer for NBCs mid season sci fi apocalyptic serial series Day One. The catastrophe would appear to be some sort of alien invasion and there are visitors who have followed to help we meager humans defend our planet. I find the mix of apocalyptic catastrophe and other worldliness compelling. The dialogue makes my teeth hurt but this is just a promo. Unfortunately, the lads could only dig up a low fi version of the trailer. Now that world is out NBC would be wise to put out a much better resolution version so we can appreciate the scale of this...
Day One chronicles a global catastrophe from the perspective of the residents of a southern California apartment complex. In the wake of a mysterious event that has shattered lines of communication and (literally) changed the shape of the world, the survivors must work together to both rebuild and save the Earth from a menace that might have already consumed countless other worlds...
As of late, television hasn't been doing a very good job with their serial dramas, a lot of them crumbling under their own weighty expectations and sudden success. Producers of this show are going to have to watch over it very carefully if they wish to avoid the same fate of some of the most popular ones in the last few years. But this could be something I could watch for a few episodes and see if it goes anywhere before abandoning it like a puppy who keeps messing up my carpets. Day One is scheduled to debut after the Winter Olympics.
Trailer after the break.

*Had not made. Don't multi-task online, kids.
Eeesh. Some of that dialogue is pretty wooden, but the concept is neat. I second the idea of NBC releasing a higher res version, though. This looks pretty rough at this resolution, but is likely rather nice. I'll give it a go - maybe the dialogue will be better in context? Here's hoping.
I just found this. http://www.nbc.com/day-one/
*ahem* "its" not "it's"
Yes. Thank you. Corrected. Let this be a lesson to you all. Eagerness to spread the news and lack of sleep do not a good mix make.
