Okay cult film fans, imagine - if you will - elements of Lone Wolf And Cub and Zatoichi fused with the B-western serial and Yoshihiro Nishimura's 'nothing is too extreme' lo-fi special affects aesthetic. Got that fixed in your mind? Because here it is on your screen in Kurando Mitsutake's Samurai Avenger: The Blind Wolf. I had the chance to talk briefly with Mitsutake - the writer / director / star of the picture - when the film screened at PiFan and came away rather impressed. Mitsutake splits his time between Japan and LA and has neatly combined influences from his two homes in this one, which looks to be good, pulpy - and bloody - fun.

Shot in Sushi-Western Scope eh? ;)
nice :))
Saw it a week ago, it is pretty fun.
Is that a Mel Gibson as Mad Max look-alike?
It's okay. Fun movie, but the numerous flashbacks get annoying.
The western actors make it look really cheap.
"Censored"?! Sorry, FAIL. That might have been funny 10 years ago, but it's just cheap today.
Sad for me to say, but I'm getting a bit tired of all the eastern/western hybrid films. We've got one awesome one recently in the Good, the Bad, and the Weird, but unless another one brings something really new to the table...*sigh*.
While I'd prefer a film with a Samurai era setting with the same tone rather than the mishmash, it still looks like something I might enjoy. I doubt I'll get a chance to see it in a theater, but they can count me in for the DVD whenever that happens.
Samurais, gunslingers, zombies, scantily clad women and blood.
I'm in.
I'm in, but I'm getting tired of all the excess on this movies.
wow... love!!!!!
This looks like a ton of fun. If you're not a fan of excessive violence and gore, go watch something artsy. I remember to first time I saw "Tokyo Gore Police" I just sat there with a "what the fuck" look on my face through the whole flick. There is a place for this kind of film in the world, deep inside my sick and twisted heart.
