About our love for Japanese director Takashi Miike there should be no question. Simply, we do. A lot. So I consider it pure joy when I'm checking up my Twitter and I see that the dashing Don Brown, from Ryuganji, has linked to five images from the director's upcoming redo of 13 Assassins. There are 3 shots of the cast and 2 of the impressive set. Find them here.

Nice.
Badass. Miike hasn't made a really great film in a long time, gut you gotta love him.
YAAAAAAY!
Since he isn't supposed to begin filming TAKERU until October 2010 (!) one has to wonder what he has lined from when he finishes with this film and then. Personally I'm rooting for a couple of his low budget personal projects since those tend to be more enjoyable for me that his polished mainstream films.
Oh was Sabu ('02 tv movie) his last period piece before this? (not counting Sukiyaki western since that's more like fusion.) if so he's got quite a gift playing it prim and proper. the cast he had on Sabu were extremely green at that point. he really brought everyone up to par and covered up any inadequacy.
