Stephen Chow's CJ7 gets Animated Sequel

by Al Young, June 10, 2009 3:04 AM

At a press conference in Beijing yesterday, Stephen Chow announced that the sequel to the sci-fi comedy film CJ7 is receiving the animated treatment. Sitting on the director chair will be Yuen Kin-to (aka Toe Yuen) who helm the McDull animated film series while Chow will serve as the producer. In this film, all the characters is expected to return with the original cast providing the voice acting and it will feature an all-new story. I don't think its too much of a stretch to picture it in animated form since Chow's brand of slapstick comedy is very similar to the medium itself.

Its scheduled to arrive theatrically in China during the Spring Festival of next year.

Toe Yuen? Sold. No questions asked. And as an aside: where is WUTANG MCDULL?

Where is another Stephen Chow movie?

I'm answering myself!!

MCDULL WUDANG/WUTANG MCDULL is now named MCDULL: KUNG FU KINDERGARTEN and has a new sales reel that's a lot like last year's sales reel only with a bit more footage and some really awful new "music". The old sales reel that's mostly the same - the main difference being that it carries the old title and it has good music - has been erased from existence. Stupid, Bliss, very stupid. I uploaded it to the player but that new music's really depressingly bad.
