US Trailer for BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE

by Al Young, May 2, 2009 2:00 AM

My wish has been answered! Samuel Goldwyn Films, co-operating with Sony Pictures, has officially announced today that it will release the live action film adaption of Blood: The Last Vampire in theaters across North America later this summer. The details on the specific release date or the theaters listing is undetermined at the moment but atleast we know its coming out this mid-year. Sony hasn't let us down with the distribution of foreign films yet so I'm not worry this film will get mishandled. To mark this news announcement, an official site has been launched with a domestic trailer. If you've seen the UK trailer before then you're not missing anything. Its practically the same except for a few new shots.

From the Producer of Hero and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon comes BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE, based on the cult hit series. Demons have infested the earth. And only one warrior stands between the dark and the light: Saya, a half-human, half-vampire samurai who preys on those who feast on human blood. Joining forces with the shadowy society known as the Council, Saya is dispatched to an American military base, where an intense series of swordfights leads her to the deadliest vampire of all. And now after 400 years, Saya's final hunt is about to begin.

You'll find the US trailer below after the break.

I still can't decide if this looks like guilty pleasure fun or not. I was let down with Onechanbara, I re the effects

I like the art direction in regards to the ultra fake, septia toned, CGI Tokyo.

But the bad techno music and generic "oriental" customs and wuxia all set in Japan just spell disaster to me. Like, I just get a really strong DoA/ Forbidden Kingdom ala Buffy the Vampire Slayer type vibe. Slick but completely generic and deritive.

Also, if you're going to make a film with a hot asian lead. Either have her speak her native language or have her speak decent english.

Yes, yes. I know this has an Asian director, but the hodge-podge mish mash of chinese and Japanese with a Korean actress speaking engrish is really kind of degrading on a Memoirs of a Geisha level.

And I don't know why this reminds of Sansori. But wtf is going on with that? Over a year after it's premiere and I still can't even find a trailer or any footage, no HK dvd with the Chinese Female Scorpian remake?

I give Sony props with the way they handle CJ7. They gave it a strong theater run and an exceptional marketing campaign.

Oops, my numbers are wrong - they got almost 208 thousand dollars out of CJ7. That's not unreasonable considering the marketing campaign.

That looks awful, poor direction, actors that don't belong in any of those roles, crappy cgi and the fights look yawn-inducing. Thanks but no thanks.

Surprisingly the US trailer is the weakest of the bunch.

could they have used a crappier Voice Over Guy for that U.S. trailer? jeeze
