Trailer for French climbing/horror film 'Vertige'

by Andrew Mack, May 20, 2009 2:51 PM

Ah. There is nothing quite like going out with your friends for a bit of mountain climbing. The crisp morning air. The clear blue skies. The wind blowing through your hair as you dare new heights. The cracking sound your cams make when they break from the rock. The pinging sounds tensions wire makes when it snaps. The wind rushing through your hair as you plummet to the earth. The crunching sound of the bear clamp as it closes around your shins... ... er... what!?!

A group of friends on vacation decide to venture onto a trail high up in the mountains that has been closed for repairs. The climb proves more perilous than planned. Especially as they soon realize that they're not alone. The adventure turns into a nightmare.

The trailer for this French horror film went up yesterday and we've loaded it up into the Twitch Video Player for your viewing pleasure and insightful criticism. You get a Renny Harlin Cliffhanger kind of vibe [god I miss that movie] at first but little is revealed as it goes tits up and people start screaming and looking over their shoulders. French Hillbilly Horror?

On June 24th the French public will find out.

Kind of The Descent (The Ascent?) meets Cliffhanger meets Calvaire... looking forward to this.

i'll def see this (i also count myself a huge CLIFFHANGER fan). i feel like they should have gone with different music cues in that trailer though. side note: i am sick of bear traps in movies. bear traps, cutting people's achilles, and giant waves could be the 3 most over used things in movies.

Funny, I was just re watching Cliffhanger a couple of days ago.

I'll pass; the use of "Carmina Burana" and the constant screaming in broad daylight do nothing for me. Maybe I'll change my mind later though.
