While I wasn't able to catch Jacques Audiard's Un Prophete myself while in Cannes the word amongst festival goers was that the prison drama was one of the very best films in this year's festival and proof that the tired ol' genre may have some life left in it, yet. While I'm hoping to be able to catch the film itself at the Toronto Festival later this year I can now at least console myself with the first teaser. It looks like whoever encoded this may have messed with the contrast - I can't believe the film is really this dark - but there's still more than enough in there to see what people were excited about.
