We missed this one when it first appeared a few days ago but, hey, better late than never, right?
We count a good number of fans of Australian director Russell Mulcahy around these parts. Razorback and the original (and should have been only) Highlander are more than enough to see to that. And so we're all rather pleased to see the man suddenly so busy these days, working on a number of films in which he seems to have been left free to put his own unique stamp on things. And the one farthest along - as in recently completed and about to screen in the market in Cannes - is neo-noir action flick Give 'Em Hell Malone starring Thomas Jane, Ving Rhames and Chris (sister of Donnie) Yen. We posted the early sales reel for this a while back, greatly encouraged by a good number of elements there while still cautious about how raw things were at that stage. Well now the film has it's official theatrical trailer and this is one riotously good time. I've seen a couple comments here and there from people unhappy with the heavily stylized dialogue and to them I turn up my nose. These thing just oozes fun ...
