Gaze Into The Eye Of Dylan Dog!

by Todd Brown, May 8, 2009 12:55 AM

Expect to be hearing a lot more about Kevin Munroe's Dead Of Night in these pages over the coming months. And not just because it's the live action directorial debut from the director of the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature - though that fact pleases me and is certainly not without appeal - but because this is a long awaited film adaptation of Tiziano Sclavi's Dylan Dog comic books, Sclavi's books having also served as the inspiration for Michele Soavi's Dellamorte, Dellamore or Cemetary Man. This one is rumored to be a much more faithful adaptation than Soavi's and the very first image of star Brandon Routh as the lead character has just surfaced over at Shock Till You Drop. A couple of nitpicks:

Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Kevin Munroe directed the CGI movie.

Francesco Dellamore wasn't an adaptation of Dylan Dog. He's a character from a novel by Tiziano Sclavi. The parallels between Dellamore and Dylan Dog were a sort of in-joke because Dylan Dog's design was based on Rupert Everett, originally.

I've heard that the movie Dellamorte, Dellamore/ Cemetary Man was based on a supporting character in Dylan Dog. Was it, or was it based on a totally seperate novel?

So many stories about Dead of Night refer to the "fact" that Dellamorte, Dellamore/ Cemetary Man was based on Dylan Dog that I almost started to believe it. Clean up your act, Twitch!
