Whither Nishimura? Behind The Scenes Shots From ROBO GEISHA and VAMPIRE GIRL VS FRANKENSTEIN GIRL!

When not blasting the hell out of things with a shotgun (that photo taken at the 2008 edition of Fantastic Fest), Yoshihiro Nishimura makes movies. A lot of movies. The director of Tokyo Gore Police and effects man on scores of other films maintains a pretty frantic work pace and the time has come to play a bit of catch up. We're already familiar with Samurai Princess - the film Nishimura produced and did effects for while the Tokyo Gore screenwriter serves as director - thanks to some postings about a week ago but he's heavily involved in at least two other projects right now as well.

First? Noboru Iguchi's Robo Geisha. Word began to circulate about the latest from the director of Sukeban Boy and Machine Girl a little while back when a casting call went out for new actresses for the lead parts and production is now under way. Very little is known about it plot wise but with it coming from Iguchi you can expect plenty of gratuitous panty shots and extreme violence. And, yes, Nishimura is once again the effects man.

Second? First, actually, since it's farther along but this one was kept under much tighter wraps. It's Nishimura's sophomore directorial effort, Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl and it is apparently nearly complete. Again, no real plot details available but I'm sure fans can take that title and use their imaginations.

Why bring these up if there aren't any real details? First, because we're fans. Second, because Nishimura is a very prolific blogger and makes free with the images. I'm not sure which shots are from which film in most cases but if you click the link below you'll find a gallery of behind the scenes stills and monitor shots from both pictures. Bloody.

Most of those shots are from VAMPIRE GIRL, except the one of the guy with shuriken in his face (actor Yuya Ishikawa, from MACHINE GIRL). That's from ROBO-GEISHA, I think.

All I want to know if if he will indeed direct a live action adaptation of Go Nagai's VIOLENCE JACK manga... Well, most likely just part of the manga since it's a 9000 page epic. Any other director and I'd dread another DEVILMAN style fiasco but TOKYO GORE POLICE sold me on the guy. He even put a few nods to VIOLENCE JACK's main villain and his "human doggies" into TGP, so he must be a pretty huge fan himself.
