My thanks go to Desiree for being clever enough to realize that few things brighten my day more than a good crime film and for then proceeding to set about doing so with the trailer for new Spanish crime-thriller 25 Kilates. I know very little about this one other than that it is due to release in Spanish cinemas on Friday and that it revolves around organized crime in Barcelona and, honestly, I don't really need to know more than that. Why not? Because this trailer is so well shot, so well edited, and filled with so many little atmospheric touches and little character moments that I am completely, one hundred percent hooked. Yow. I've been trying to sort out what this brings to mind and the closest I've been able to come so far is that it is somewhere in the neighborhood of what would have happened if Michael Mann had shot the original Infernal Affairs.
