Somebody blended my Alien with my 2001: A Space Odyssey and dropped a dollop of Solyaris in there to boot. And the resulting cocktail appears to be a showcase for the talents of one Sam Rockwell. This is a slick trailer for a film that certainly does not look like a feature debut of a new director, (that would be Duncan Jones) and I want to fall in love with it right now! Thankfully Sony is smart enough to give Moon a wide release this summer, with a Clint Mansell score to boot!
Astronaut Sam Bell has a quintessentially personal encounter toward the end of his three-year stint on the Moon, where he, working alongside his computer, GERTY, sends back to Earth parcels of a resource that has helped diminish our planet's power problems.
Check it out after the Jump!

"what kind of moron would agree to be sent to a moon outpost for 3 years"
one of the russians spent over 2yrs in space.
that smiley face looks ridiculous
"one of the russians spent over 2yrs in space."
Well, that was in orbit, not on the moon, which is much, MUCH further away. Not to mention he probably had more company from time to time than Sam Rockwell in the movie.
In a sense, Agent Wax's question is the one the movie asks and answers. Mysterious.
This looks amazing
Finally a movie to look forward to..this looks mad interesting.
Yes! Finally something that looks like good sci-fi!
Yeah, here's hoping for a decent modern sci-fi film, for once.
This looks good.
The set-up looks incredibly similar to the John Wyndham short story 'Dumb Martian'...which is a great story and looks like it covers similar ground to this (though it's hard to tell from just a trailer). I think that was set on one of Jupiters moons?
Shades of Solaris...in a very good way.
wow, this looks great! i've been a big fan of S.R. since his turn in Green Mile.
Agent Wax, i would go to the moon ALONE if i was given the chance. the trailer looks promising except of the computer, it seems like a parody of HAL9000...
Deal me in. This looks wonderful.
Just for the opportunity, I'd volunteer for a solo long-haul space exploration mission - ie. Larry Niven's "A World Out of Time". Insanity be damned.
Anyhoo, looks like Rockwell's character has a pretty steady video uplink to stay in touch.
Excellent trailer, nicely shot, original sounding story, good actor(s). I initially thought of Solaris also, but I feel like this will stray from comparisons once viewed. "that smiley face looks ridiculous", yes, I agree, it's a bit of a huge contrast to the rest of the look of the film. I know I'd go nuts having an emoticon as my companion. I'd draw a mustache on the screen.
The trailer looks great! I want to watch this now!
@ForgottenFilms: Your mention of the 'dark side of the moon' almost made me have second thoughts about this film, but it appears that this is your misunderstanding, not something actually referenced in the film.
Pretty sure in the opening narrative they say something along those lines. I just saw it on the 29th of March.
