With Norwegian Third Reich Skiing Holiday Zombie flick Dead Snow getting a theatrical release in just over a month, director Tommy Wirkola has moved into other interesting genre-mash territory: Hansel & Gretel - Witch Hunters. Envisioning the bread-crumb following children as grown-up occult bounty hunters, there is plenty of room for great fun here (and things seem to be aiming in that direction, citing Shaun of the Dead and Evil Dead 2 as the high-water marks).
While this is a studio picture (Paramount to be precise), perhaps a smaller budget and outside of Hollywood feel can prevent this from going the way of The Brothers Grimm and Van Helsing, but lookie here, Adam McKay and Will Farrell are producing (Eastbound and Down certainly has its share of fans). We will keep you posted on this one.
