Indie director Joe Swanberg's film Alexander the Last opened at the 2009 SXSW Film Festival to largely positive responses. Now, in a somewhat unexpected move, Swanberg is said to be preparing a Chekov inspired "quasi-horror" film called Silver Bullets.
According to the New York Press, in addition to featuring actress Jane Adams, the film will boast performances by indie genre directors Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter, Wendigo) and Ti West (Trigger Man, House of the Devil). It is unknown whether Silver Bullets will be another attempt at "mumblecore" fusion (e.g., Baghead) or something else entirely. In any case, the combination of material and talent is intriguing. It is also worth noting that Greta Gerwig, who appears in a number of Swanberg's films, also has a role in West's new film House of the Devil.

I'm no fan of Swanberg, but this is intriguing. I was very taken with BAGHEAD, and I have to trust Fessenden's taste in material - he's yet to let me down. Very interesting scoop...
