We've got a swarm of noir fans here at Twitch and this post goes out to all of you. Got a love for femmes fatales and tougher than nails anti-heroes? The starting on March 13th, get yourself to the Sunset Laemmle Theatre in Los Angeles. Why? Because that's when Jeremy Alter's The Perfect Sleep begins its limited theatrical run before heading to New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Portland.
In a timeless city, a man with no name returns to the violent, brutal domain of assassins he left ten years before – back when they dubbed him The Mad Monk for his disregard for his own life and his intense devotion to one woman, Porphyria; a beautiful, luminescent woman; the girl he grew up with; the love of his life; the one thing he has ever wanted; the one thing he can never have. There is no discernible reason for him to come back to this ruthless city, save one. She still lives here, she is in danger, and he – a man gifted in the art of killing – may be the only one who can save her. Waiting for him are deadly men who would like nothing more than to see him die a painful death. Standing at their forefront is the formidable Nikolai, the man who raised him and just might be his father.
I had a chance to catch an early screening of this and Alter is pretty much a genius with the camera, the film every bit as striking as the gorgeous trailer that you'll find below the break.

I was wondering what had happened to this.
seriously. will you guys stop telling us about films years in advance? haha. i've been looking for info on this for months thought i missed it. wondered if it was a fake site and trailer. and now finally. it is here. thanks. for the update and the beyond a few months heads up. (almost a year now?)
Dammit this looks so good - a proper noir feel with modern action, all enthused with a light touch not dissimilar to Millers Crossing. I. Want. It. Now. Seriously, any word on a UK release?
I love Noir!
Lovely.
Magnet took DVD rights.
yes it quite been long time i don't see any good film noir, i feel lucky i don't miss this one.
This looks fantastic. I can't wait til it hits New York on the 20th.
