Good news on the awards front for Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, which led yesterday's Independent Spirit Awards with three wins - for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Cinematography. The rest of the awards fell pretty much as you'd expect, though it was a pleasant surprise to see Charlie Kauffman take home some hardward with Synechdoche, New York winning Best First Feature.

You have to check out his acceptance speech for best male lead award... Simplay brilliant. Guess that's what they call a method actor ;)
Not that I'm trying to bash the film at all, I loved it, but Best Cinematography? It was competent, and even clever at times, but it wasn't anything breakthrough. The cinematography in Requiem or Fountain far outshined that in The Wrestler. Rourke definitely gets my vote for best actor though.
