Talk about a long time coming ... created jointly by Brit director Shane Meadows (This Is England) and actor Paddy Considine (Dead Mans Shoes), the character of Le Donk first appeared in a short film way, way back when Meadows and Considine worked together on Meadows' feature Once Upon A Time In The Midlands and the rumors of an eventual Le Donk feature have been circling about ever since. A couple years back word was out that Le Donk was next on the slate for Meadows but it ended up being bumped for a different project, which initially was rather upsetting to fans who wanted to see it butturned out to be rather alright when the other project turned out to be the brilliant This Is England.
So. Last night I finally had a chance to check out Somers Town - the latest from Meadows and yet another stellar piece of work - and was moved to find out what the man was up to. Turns out he's busy. Another long-gestating feature project is in active development, This Is England is being adapted into a television miniseries, and - yes! - Le Donk is done. Shot in faux-documentary style in a mere five days - Meadows and producers Warp Films hope this will be the first is a series of Five Day Films - Le Donk stars Considine as the title character - a former builder, former rock drummer, current band roadie as he hits the road with his pregnant girlfriend and ends up taking on a roadie gig for The Arctic Monkeys. Meadows is putting the final buff and polish on the films' post-production right now and an extended promo reel recently hit the web. Check it out below the break!

I wouldn't go to too much effort to see OUATITM...it's not very good...
I love Dead Mans Shoes. Everyone I show it to hates it, but I don't care. Give me Meadows and Considine over anybody else working right now.
