The GREENSIDE Crew Go Feature Length With THE INFECTED

by Todd Brown, October 23, 2008 11:02 PM

In the interest of full disclosure here I should probably declare right up front that I actually have a producer's credit on the latest to come from Eric Lim and the crew of film makers behind Zero Trooper F and Greenside. A quick trip through the Twitch archive will show that I was a fan of these guys and their work well before I had any sort of formal association with them, but still some people get worked up over things like this, so there you have it. And now on to the point ...

After turning heads with low budget, Japanese monster inspired shorts Zero Trooper F and Greenside, young Wisconsin producer Eric Lim and his talented crew are making the leap to features with The Infected. Working from a script by Simon Boyes - co-writer of Adam Mason's Blood River, The Devil's Chair and Broken, which he also co-directed - Lim and directors Niko Pueringer and Sam Gorski are changing tacks and approaching the monster genre from a different angle. The film tells the story of a group of researchers sent to a remote island where experimental research has unleashed an anamorphic creature with the ability to move quickly from host to host - hence the film's title - destroying everything in its path.

I don't think I can say any more about it at this point we've just been sent the first two images from the picture to share and there should be a promo reel available at the upcoming AFM. I'm hoping to have some footage approved to share here soon.

You sly devil keeping all these secrets from me Todd!! LOL!! Well, I feel really great now that I introduced you to their art first. Especially, when we get an awesome looking collaboration like this!! Can't wait for more details!!

Heh ... they'd have killed me if I'd said anything about it before now. I've read the script and given some notes on it - it's good - and I literally posted these images within about twenty minutes of first seeing them myself. Shooting only really got going last week ...

Hmmm...not to air any dirty laundry, but I too was introduced to the Zero Troop kids through Twitch and was enthralled by their work. I emailed them, offering up my compositing and VFX services for free. They responded that they loved my art work and wanted me to make some graffiti style signs and posters for them. I accepted the opportunity...and then......nothing. Broken hearted, I tried to move on. But each time I checked my email, I hoped for a response. Sure we've all moved on to different projects now, but...I still hope ;)

(the above statement is non-subtle offer to help with the VFX on the upcoming film)
